Project Overview
Problem
There is a large collection of videos, audio, and images for traditional Korean music, as well as instructional videos and a large number of notations.
Goal
To make this material accessible to the public, allowing interested individuals to gain insight into traditional Korean music, download learning materials, and contact teachers.
Project Duration
October 2021 - March 2022

Understanding the User
There is a large collection of videos, audio, and images for traditional Korean music, as well as instructional videos and a large number of notations.

Pain Points of the User
• There is currently no comprehensive internet offering in German
• There is no way for teachers to present themselves
• It is difficult to find teachers
• There is a lack of deeper information on instruments

In collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center and the University of Music and Theater Hamburg, we are creating the first and comprehensive platform for traditional Korean music in German.
Our Design
Wireframes
To get a first sense of the scope and system architecture, we created wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes.
Design Research
For idea generation and initial inspiration, we visited the Gugak Center in Seoul. Our goal was to create a modern, appealing website with a traditional touch. And since we have excellent photo material, the design should be rather restrained to give the images enough room to be effective.
Layout
With enough inspiration and ideas for design coordination, we worked closely with the entire team to create appealing and user-friendly layouts. Through small details and a color scheme inspired by traditional costumes, we have created a timeless design with a touch of tradition.
Summary
Effect
Feedback on the portal has been very positive so far, with users liking the appealing design and the materials presented in a clear and organized way.
What's Next
Since this portal is the first of its kind, we still have a lot to learn and optimize. Our next plans are to expand the instructional videos and sort the instruments according to Asian and European styles. It remains exciting, and we are enjoying this project.
